Excerpts from the laudation at the vernissage
Painter Iris Bodenburg’s watercolour art of on the elaborately handmade, coarsely structured deckle edged sheets from Nepal, extremely high-quality Kahari Himalaya paper, and Awagami paper from Japan requires a tremendous mastery. Figurative painting is a major challenge. The colours have their own flow, which must be considered and mastered. In our part of the world, Iris Bodenburg is an individual talent with 30 years of experience in this artistic discipline on such precious papers. She is gifted with the ability to capture movement in a fascinating way. The paper underlines the transparency of the swinging processes. In a nutshell, one can say: The virtuosic, masterly and beneficial way in which the artist Iris Bodenburg handles the lively structures of the paper, her unmistakable handwriting, her great talent for drawing and the wide range of motifs make her works a TRADEMARK, a precious object of art on paper of the highest quality. All of her works are emotional pictorial worlds of intellectual depth and beauty, inspired by the cultures of the most diverse countries and periods of time, which are a delightful pleasure for the viewer to decipher.
